May Sample Society 2013 Review

Well, I but the bullet and decided to try Sample Society one last time. Wow!  I sure wish I would have kept my $15. It was a true disappointment this month. Sample Society is a monthly subscription box that is from Beauty Bar and Allure. I had a love/ hate relationship with it last year, but thought I would give them a second chance. It is $15 a month for the box, and you get a $15 off $50 code for the month to use at Beauty Bar's website.

In this month's box:

• .25 oz Alterna Bamboo Shine. Amazon value, $1.13.  I am going to be honest and let you know that I have about 5 samples of almost this same exact product. I did not need another. 
• .25 oz Dr. Brandt BB Cream. Amazon value, $7.43. I am happy with this, as I tend to only wear a tinted moisturizer in the summer. I am hoping this one works. 
• .1 oz Yu Be Moisturizing Skin Cream. value, $1.10. Oh wow! So glad to try this out. I swear every beauty subscription box company must have a stash of a million of them. It is my 5th one I have gotten. I did not like it the first time . . . still do not like it. 
• Kate Sommerville Tanning Towelette. Amazon value, $6.00. I still have tanning towelettes from last year from BirchBox. I am SUPER pale, and tend to stay away from products like these. MAYBE I will try it one a week I do not need to leave the house?
• Jane Iredale Lip & Cheek Stain (no size listed). I am going to guess it at .1 ounce? Value, $2.50. It is SUPER tiny. Cute, but this thing will get lost the first time I put it in my purse or make-up kit. 

Total value: $18.16  for items that really did not interest me much. I may use the $15 off coupon, but since I am limited to the above brands, I am not sure that I will use it at all.
To add to this, they used a black paper in the box, and there was a black layer of dusty material on everything. Not a huge deal, but a little annoying. 

Truthfully, I wish I could find a beauty box that I REALLY loved. This was was just lackluster.
