Choosing a GOOD Sunscreen

It's Fan Friday, where we answer YOUR questions!
This week, I had a fabulous question about sunscreen! I LOVE talking about sunscreen!!!
Before I had kids, I NEVER considered the brand of sunscreen I was using. I just picked up a high SPF and called it a day.

Then, I had kids! And I found out that sunscreen DOES matter. Many sunscreens have unsafe chemicals that you do NOT want absorbed into the body. This is especially true for little ones! And I KNOW it can be so overwhelming reading labels, especially for sunscreen-- and harder to remember what is safe and what is not.

Environmental Work Group has made it EASY!!!! They have a new guide each year. You just visit: http://www.ewg.org/2013sunscreen/  put in the sunscreen you are wondering about in the search box, and they will give you a rating (with 1 being the best, and lowest rating). It will also tell you about the dangerous chemicals in the product you are searching for and why it is not recommended.

Want an even EASIER way to see sunscreens? Go to:
http://www.ewg.org/2013sunscreen/best-sunscreens/best-beach-sport-sunscreens/
where they list their 184 recommended sunscreens!

Our personal favorite is ThinkBaby/ ThinkSport. This is the one we use most often:
http://www.ewg.org/2013sunscreen/about-the-sunscreens/497295/thinksport_Livestrong_Sunscreen%2C_SPF_30/
So head to the beach, but keep your skin healthy!

Good Hands for Good Life

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Allstate for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

As a busy mom, I KNOW how hard parenting can be! We all face many challenges each and every day-- and so do our kids. This year was a challenging year for my daughter who is now entering into 5th grade. She really struggled, for the first time, with some of the material and constantly got discouraged. I believe these are such teachable moments. I always remind her that as a family, there is nothing that we cannot overcome. If we work together, we can accomplish anything-- and this is something she reminds me of as well! Whenever we have a hard task ahead, she reminds me that we can figure it out together, as a family. She successfully completed her 4th grade year with high Bs and As, and I am so proud of her! She is moving on to 5th grade and can celebrate her accomplishment!
This morning, when I dropped the kids of at "Kids Camp" there was a note saying they should bring their bikes-- today! I just wanted to crawl back into bed! My kids only go to Kids Camp 3 days a week, so we did not see the note yesterday, and I did not even know HOW to get the bikes into the car. I tried unsuccessfully to get them into the back of the car, with no luck. I was ready to give up-- so I called my husband who was at work. He did not answer my call, so I tried one more time-- and this time it all worked out. Isn't that what life is all about-- just trying one more time? The truth is, we all want a Good Life, but often we stand in our own way with fear and doubt in ourselves! We need to overcome that fear and doubt and enjoy all of the amazing things that come our way! We can say at the end of the day, "I CAN do it and I WILL!"
Allstate is working to make your life good as well! People live for the good moments, and Allstate Good Life is there to help you celebrate!
What has happened in your life recently that has been good? How you overcome adversity and doubt? Share in the comments below!

Get a Better Night's Rest with ZzzQuil

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of ZzzQuil for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
As a mom, I know one of the hardest things to get is a good night's rest. Since I had my first child, I have such a difficult time resting, and we all know how important sleep is. It always seems that something wakes me up at night, whether it is a child, a dog, or even the cat-- getting a good night' rest is hard when you are a mom. Not only does healthy sleep keep you from being moody the next day, but getting a good night's rest also will give you energy the next day. Research even indicates that getting a good night's rest will help you in losing weight!

 photo ZzzQuilIZEAPostcardpdf-1_zps70314197.jpg
ZzzQuil can help you in getting the sleep your body and mind needs! It is for people 12 years and up and is non-habit forming like many other sleep medications available. Many people have used NyQuil to assist in sleeping when they have a cold or flu. Now you can use this same trusted brand for times that you just need a little sleep! And ZzzQuil is the ONLY sleep aid available as both a liquid or LiquiCap form, so it truly is for anyone needing sleep! With the active ingredient, diphenhydramine HCl, you can get the rest you need faster, so that you can wake up and face your day!
This Vick's family sleep aid is just what you need to get back to sleep from a brand you know and trust.
Like them on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/ZzzQuil  for more tips on getting a good night's rest!

We love reviewing products that are safe AND usable for the ENTIRE family! That is why we are so excited to bring you Udderly Smooth! Udderly Smooth has been treating dry skin for over 30 years (so, you have probably heard of them). They can treat all sorts of skin ailments from dry, cracked feet to facial moisturizer!

The body cream goes on very smooth and did not leave a greasy after effect (like many lotions do). It also moisturized all day long, which was great for me AND my kids!

My favorite product was the foot cream!

It went on very nicely and did help my feet get in shape for summer sandals!

90 Day Bioscience Update

As you know, I am on a 90 Day Bioscience challenge- and soon one of my lucky readers will be as well!

This is just an update on my progress. I have been taking them for about 60 days, and I do find that they are hard to swallow in the morning. I switched to taking one each day around lunch time, and that has really helped.

I have noticed increased energy, especially in the afternoon-- when I need it most.

At the end of our journey, we WILL be giving away a 90 day supplement! And remember, if you are a blogger, you can go on your own 90 day challenge at:

City Lash Review

Are you wanting longer lashes? I am always looking for ways to enhance my eyes, which is why I was thrilled to review City Lash! City Lash is a product that promotes growth in your lashes.

You should know that it does leave some residue/ stickiness on your lashes. I strongly recommend using it at night for this reason. It made my mascara in the morning, look a little clumpy, so I simply switched to using it at night.

The substance is clear, and I actually did notice that my lashes appeared thicker and a little longer after 30 days of use.

You can find out more about and purchase City Lash at: CITYCosmetics.com

(MamaBreak received City Lash to review here on the site! We did not receive any other type of compensation. As always, our opinions and experiences are our own).

Big Cookie Review

It is summer time, and who wants to sit around and bake all day? The summer is for relaxing (and I hate warming up the house even more by leaving the oven baking all day)! We recently received Big Cookies for review! We love Big Cookie because they send FRESH individually wrapped cookies straight to your house! This is perfect for parties because they are all in their own packaging, ready to eat!

The first flavor we tried was Big Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Unity! It was melt in your mouth delicious! I am a HUGE fan of both chocolate AND peanut butter and this cookie did not disappoint. It was moist and delicious!

My daughter's favorite was the Big Oatmeal Cinnamon Raisin Harvest. She said it tasted "perfect" and loved the cookie!

We just cannot get enough Big Cookie! They are so delicious and the perfect summer treat with a glass of lemonade! You can check them out at: http://www.1bigcookie.com/

Mmmm Memorial Day!

On this day we remember all those who have served, given their lives and are currently serving in branches of the military.  THANK YOU for all the sacrifices!

With Memorial Day also comes some amazing cook-out foods. With our new addition, we just knew we weren't getting out, BUT we were going to have some amazing food!

We use Camerons Stainless Steel Stove Top Smoker.  This was a gift from my dad to hubby a few years ago and it is a HIT! We LOVE our smoker.  It makes small batches of amazing tasting food.

We marinated these baby back ribs in COFFEE over night, seasoned and followed directions in the smoker booklet (45 minutes on the stove, 2 hours in the oven) Marinated in our favorite BBQ sauce throughout the cooking process!

THIS is what we got to enjoy!

Hope you celebrated in a great way too!  Happy Long weekend!

Friday Fan Question!!!

We love answering YOUR questions!!! This week's question was:

How do I know if a prize has been claimed or if a new winner will be drawn?

We love this question! As you know, we ALWAYS display the rafflecopter winner! Always! We are not secretive about our winners at all (and we want YOU to know if you won)!

We re-draw all winners if they have not responded to our "You are a WINNER" email. The winner has 48 hours to respond. All winner emails come from: 2mamas@mamabreak.com (time to add us to your email list if you have not already)! If we do not get a reply, we remove the name from the rafflecopter and re-draw (and re-list the new name). This actually happens more times than you would imagine (so add us to that email list)!

IF the prize has been claimed, the giveaway will be listed as a "past giveaway." If you still see the contest in our current giveaways, but it is finished, it means we are still waiting for a winner's response!

So, there is your answer. If you still see it under our live giveaways, we are still looking for a winner. If it has been moved to "Past Giveaways" it has been claimed!

Thanks for your fun questions! Send us some MORE!!!!!

Birthdays on a Budget--Shark Attack 4 year old party

Looking to celebrate a young ones birthday on a budget.  We are trying minimalistic party options and wanting some FUN QUALITY time with our almost 4 year old, his friends and dear loved ones.

This is what we are doing this year:

We are going to a PARK! With FUN (free) toys!

We are really praying that the weather will be nice!

We are playing fun and silly games like toss across (borrowed), squirt guns (gift for kids to take home) and parachute games (bought/invested).

Kids will celebrate with some fun shark cupcakes (homemade) and water.

Requested that no gifts be brought--since time with my little one will be WAY more memorable!

Afterwards, family will gather (because many wont come to the kid park thing!) for a potluck lunch where we will grill out.

This party was a little time-consuming to come up with FUN ideas and then take the cost out. We are hoping that the whole day will cost us less than $250--which includes a kid "Shark" theme party for 15 (with treats and take home squirt things and beach towels) and meat for a family gathering of 12 adults & 5 kids.

We KNOW little (big!?) man will LOVE the quality and social time for his party and that some crazy things that cost a lot (rental, tokens, bounce house, you name it) won't even be missed with all the action!

What are ways you save money on birthday parties?

Sponsored Video on My Cancer Story

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of the American Cancer Society.

Ten years ago, I did not have much of a cancer story. Sure, I knew friends of friends or someone's parent who had cancer, but it never was a part of my immediate life. Almost eight years ago, cancer would enter my life.

I was living in Kentucky when I first got a call from my mom. She was hesitant to call me. I was pregnant with my son at the time, and it had been a difficult pregnancy. But the time had finally arrived when she had no choice. My aunt had cancer. Even as I type the words, tears well up in my eyes because even after all this time, it is one of the most painful experiences I have ever lived through.

I remained in Kentucky and prayed like I have never prayed before. I lit candles, and my constant background thought was, "Please heal her." It because a part of my every day life to ask for a miracle, to ask for her to be healed. My aunt was given a few months to live, but she showed us that she was going to stick around until SHE decided it was time to go.

I would return home when my son was 6 months old. We were being told constantly that my aunt had "three months left." But my aunt was a fighter. And she was a believer. She knew her work was not done.

One of my aunt's constant reminders to her family was that she did not want us to feel sorry for her. There was always someone suffering more than her. Even in her last days, she cared so passionately for her family, her friends, and her community. Maybe this is a good time to tell you about her.

You know that mom who ALWAYS has a juicebox for EVERY kid on the field trip? That was my aunt.
You know that woman who is in a million organizations in the community, is always planning an event, and doesn't break a sweat? That was my aunt.
That person who NEVER has a hair out of place? That was my aunt.

I could tell you a million things about her, but the truth is, she was nothing short of amazing. She was always there for every person in my family. She was my advice giver, my rock, the person I want to be when I grow up (because we are never done growing).

For the next 4 years my aunt would fight cancer, and it was a hard road. There were ups and downs, and always she fought. My cousin (her only daughter) was getting married, and her one wish was to see that wedding. She lost her fight on August 5, 2009. Because I had moved back home a few years earlier, I was able to see her in those last moments and to hold her hand, saying goodbye for the last time.

Her daughter's wedding was on September 5, 2009. When it was apparent that my aunt would not last one more month, an impromptu ceremony was planned at the hospital complete with a priest, bedpan, and a hospital gown. My aunt died shortly after the ceremony. She was finally able to let go.

It was so hard to let go, but I was able to share with her my son's first birthday, my oldest daughter's birthday, and many, many more memories. Cancer robbed me of her far too early, but I got those 4 years when she held on and fought so that we would be able to say goodbye.

Cancer has probably touched every person's life reading this post. But there is hope, and there is help. The American Cancer Society is 100 years old this year, after being founded in 1913 by 15 physicians and business leaders. They have been a party of EVERY cancer research breakthrough in recent history, and are currently undertaking a major study looking at ways to prevent cancer called the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). They have contributed to reducing the cancer death rate in the US by 20% since the early 1990s, resulting in about 1.2 million lived saved!

Help The American Cancer Society fight cancer by lending your voice to their movement!
