10/14: Sunday Site Day

Today is Sunday Site day, and as the holidays are fast approaching, I wanted to share with you some of the sitesI use in order to get some AMAZING deals!

I have always been a deals shopper, but when my son was born 5 years ago, we went from being a 2-income family to a 1-income family as I decided to stay home for a year. Sound familiar? Well, finding even BETTER deals was my solution. And I am not talking about a 50% off clearance. 90% off was a MUCH better deal. When I discovered most of what I bought each week could be FREE, I about lost it. And when I found out that I could MAKE MONEY on buying things, well I was elated!

Things you should know:

  1. You will NOT get rich overnight
  2. This takes WORK. A lot of work.
  3. You will never want to buy toothpaste again.
  4. Sometimes posted are not 100% guaranteed, especially online ones. If the site looks spammy, my rule of thumb is not to buy.
  5. Online deals last for a short amount of time, sometimes only minutes. Never feel bad for missing a deal. A new one will come along soon.

  • Slickdeals: This is the first site I found, and it is the one I use. You will find that most deal shoppers are either fans of Slickdeals (SD) or FatWallet (FW). Most are fans of both. Some like the layout of FatWallet, while I prefer Slickdeals. If you click on the "Forums" button you will see the different areas. I suggest spending time looking around to find what you want/ need. If you are looking for coupons, instead of going to coupons, go to the B & M section. This will give you the deals in stores such as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and more. This is where I find most of my "match ups". Match ups are matching a sale with a coupon (and sometimes a rebate as well), to make items very cheap, free, or a money maker.
Slickdeals and FatWallet deals are generated by people submitting them to the forums. Because of this, the deals are sometimes not accurate, not amazing deals, or can lead to spammy websites.

  • FatWallet: This site is very similar to Slickdeals, and really differs only in its appearance. In general, if a deal goes up on Slickdeals, it will be up on FatWallet. One may get the scoop, but eventually the information is shared. Again, click on "Forums" to find what you are looking for.

  • Retailmenot: If you are shopping online, you should never make a purchase without first checking Retailmenot. Retailmenot is a collection of the BEST coupon codes available for every online store you can imagine! You simply search for the site you are looking for, and it will provide you with the code you need! I NEVER buy something without first searching on Retailmenot first.

  • Dealupa: This is not a site I personally use, but I know many other people that do. It theory, it is a "customized" deal site (like Slickdeals and FatWallet), that only shows you the deals that are relevant for you. I do NOT subscribe to their website, so cannot vouch for them. I am always hesitant about websites that require you to sign up before you can try them out. It is one of the newer sites, so time will tell.
