The Active Family Project

It is summertime Mamas! Time to get out and about with the kids! I work year-round, so I know how hard it can be to find time to get out with the entire family, but it is so easy to find things to do. 

Our Crazy Tent Area

This past weekend, my family participated in a Soapbox Derby! We make it a family even, and everyone attends. We have a tent that we purchased on sale, and we set it up along the side of the road. We bring a cooler filled with snacks and drinks, chairs for everyone, plenty of sunscreen and bug spray,  and enjoy watching the race and being outside together.

Finding activities like these in YOUR town is so easy! Most towns have a web page for the City of Commerce, and that is a GREAT place to start! Carnivals, fairs, and parades are great ways to enjoy the outdoors and to be active as a family. Local parks often hold concerts and activities, so make sure to check the schedules of local parks. And don't forget how fun it can be to be a tourist in your home town! Find out why people visit they town you live in, and visit those same places. If you grew up in the area, bring your kids to the places as a young person!

Being an active family does not mean you need to spend a lot of money. It just means finding fun activities that everyone can enjoy!
