My favorite memory is from the year I was pregnant with my son. I was due that Sunday, and not wanting to miss my favorite holiday since I couldn't travel, my husband convinced both of our families to bring Thanksgiving to us. It was amazing. And delicious!
ReplyDeleteLove going to Gma's and how everyone helps out with the meal. The women prepare it, the men clean it up (including dishes). :) Love watching the parade with my kids and the crisp walks we have after the meal.

ReplyDeleteThe first year that I made a real dinner...I left the bag inside the turkey when I baked it...SO funny!
ReplyDeleteGoing to three in one day I think, my dad made an amazing turkey at home, then my mom reminded him we had to make an appearance at her folks and they had held the food for our arrival, then got a call from his sisters/my aunts saying aren't y'all coming over for dinner. How could we tell any of them we'd already celebrated with a great one, we were more than stuffed.
ReplyDeleteWhen my children were very little and we lived far from family I baked a large turkey. My three year old daughter at one whole side of the bird!
ReplyDeleteThe year when I was a child and the power went out in the middle of cooking the turkey. My parents were hosting the dinner so we had to scramble and move the whole dinner production to my grandma's. Quite the ordeal.
ReplyDeleteI remember my friends once had an orphans dinner on thanksgiving...inviting over everyone who couldn't go home to their families that year and we had such a blast meeting all kinds of interesting people!
