Citrus Lane Review

As of 2016, Citrus Lane is officially closed. We highly recommend Bluum as an alternative to your Citrus Lane subscription. A full review of Bluum will be coming soon.

Ok, as you probably have noticed, I have really enjoyed checking out the different boxes of the month that seem to be popping up everywhere . . . and I think I finally found a TRUE winner! Yay for Citrus Lane
I have to admit I was not thrilled with them at first. I was going back and forth with Customer Service about getting a tracking number, but I will give them this-- customer service actually responded every time within 24 hours-- not with a tracking number, but at least there was a response.

I really thought I would cancel after the first month. I told them as much on their facebook wall :) My box would need to be AMAZING to keep my subscription.

Needless to say, I am sticking with the membership an cannot wait for next month.

So what was SOOOO amazing . . . well, first let me explain that this is an expensive box-- it is $25 a month, but if you sign up through this link and use code JULYBOX to get your first box for only $7!!!!!!!!!! Wanting to buy a long subscription?

I also should explain what makes Citrus Lane a little different. YOUR box is based on YOUR child. You indicate your child's age and gender and they send an appropriate box. I believe the age goes up to 3 or 4, and I got a box that was clearly for a toddler (my almost 2 year old).

On to the contents. Not everything is in the photo, and I will explain.
First, the box comes with a contents card that tells you which each item is, where to buy it, and how much it costs. This makes blogging about it and its approximate worth SO much easier! :) The information also includes tips each month to make parenting easier AND coupon codes at various stores. My toddler box contained:

  • Paul Frank board book. It is SUPER cute and daughter LOVES it. Value $6.99 is their estimate-- on Amazon for a sale price of $9.99!!!!!
  • Skip Hop Dunck Stacking Bath Toys-- $10 is their value-- $9.99 on amazon
  • Branam All Natural Xylitol Tooth Gel (5 oz full size)-- $7.99 is their value-- $7.11 on amazon
  • Seventh Generation Natural Hand Wash (12 oz full size)-- $3.49 is their value-- $7.99 on amazon
  • Sample of Juice Beauty Antioxidant Serum (.17 oz)-- They do not give a value-- 2 oz is $45.00 on amazon--- Citrus Lane includes a mom surprise apparently every month as a little bonus.
So add all this up- $28.47 is their value--- JUST for the stuff above (I am NOT done), $35.08 with amazon prices. So in JUST the items (which they perhaps UNDERvalued) you got your money's worth.
BUT WITH THIS BOX came a $15 ecomom gift card. NOT some coupon of $15 off 40. No a GIFT CARD with no restrictions of anything like that!!!! That brings the value to $43.47 or $50.08. As an ecomom shopper, I am already using my code this evening!

Gift card and sample not shown, as the gift card was a # I do not want to share :), and the sample was snatched. That is my little one's hand grabbing for the soap already!

Needless to say, I am blown away. This is not a sample box like other places that send small samples, but a company that sends full sized products that are AGE appropriate for your CHILD. I just simply love them!!!!! And I CANNOT WAIT for next month!!!!

  2. I purchased the 3-month special deal for my yet-to-be-born baby (I am due in a month). I expected some pregnancy items that I could pamper myself with, and some newborn stuff, but I got some generic boxes with an alphabet mat and some other toy stuff, diaper rash cream and books. Probably the right value money-wise but not stuff I would have purchased. I was relieved that I only purchased the 3-month special deal and then I discovered they just charged me full price for a 4th month! Called them, and, of course, they argued there was some fine print that I didn't see, stating that the subscription is "automatically renewed." Yes, granted, I am still pregnant and emotional now, but I am very upset about them taking advantage of people like that! Beware of the "automatic renewal" scam if you just plan to purchase a limited-time membership.

  3. I thought the auto renewal was very clearly spelled out. I, too, forgot to cancel and was bummed. But I'm back on their subscriptions. I spend $25 on stupider stuff each month. This is a fun treat.

  7. I just used your link and got the subscription for 15 bucks which is great! Thanks for this. :) Does my subscription stay at 15 bucks every month or does it expire at some point and go to full price? Awesome blog. Thanks again.

  8. I ordered a gift subscription for my kids from my husband to me in order to avoid the automatic subscription. I am pondering sending this out as a baby gift in the future, so I figured I should try it out first!

  10. I got a subscription from friends of mine when my baby was born 5 months ago. I have full intentions of resubscribing when I'm up and this is why:

-I receive gifts that are new and exciting
-the gifts keep this working mom in the know
-I've liked some products enough that I've purchased other products in their line
-I am able to recommend unknown products to other moms and have earned the reputation as a tastemaker
-the products are all earthy, safe, and the absolute best for my baby

  15. We accidentally bought two subscriptions...our bad. Here's what a good company would do: give us a refund for one of the subscriptions. Here's what an evil company would do: not give us a refund and just treat us like two paying customers at the same home. Turns out, Citrus Lane prefers the evil, profit maximizing route. Oh well.

  16. I loved Citrus Lane until I tried to change an order I made a mistake on. I tried calling them several times, but no one picked up, and I was forced to leave multiple messages. No one ever returned my call. Next, I tried canceling on their website, like they tell you on a recording when you call them, but they don't have a direct like to cancel on their website. So I did a google search, I found it. https://wwws.citruslane.com/account/#/cancel. The fact that you couldn't get to this directly from their site without doing some research is also a problem. When I got to this page, I was told 'You will need to receive your first box before canceling your subscription--we want you to have a chance to see your first box and enjoy the items before deciding whether or not to stay with us!' Talk about BS. All I wanted to do was fix an order. I would have used them for years giving them tons of business because we used them for my sister, my brother, and ourselves. I have lots of friends having babies now, but they seem unethical. I can't do business with a company like this.
