Gardening is easy--- Let the kids help!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Miracle-Gro for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Have you always wanted to start a garden, but were afraid to try? Gardening can be as easy and complicated as you want to make it, and you can even get the entire family involved.

 photo Photo2-1.jpg

This year, my children and I planted sunflowers, and they were easy to grow and fun to watch. You can see that it requires very little space!

 photo Photo3-1.jpg

  • First, you need a small pot, like the one seen here.
  • You will also need seeds (we picked some up at the garden store)
  • A watering can (one the kids can manage makes it much more fun!)
  • Don't forget Miracle-Gro to help your plant grow faster and better! LiquaFeed All Purpose Plant Food Advance Starter Kit is a GREAT way to get your garden started!

 photo Photo1-1.jpg

We water our plants every day, and we already see the start of our plants! You can grow anything in these small pots: vegetables, fruits, or even flowers! It is a great way for the kids to learn about plants, and to keep them busy! The Shake n' Feed Moisture Control All Purpose Plant Food and Moisture Control Potting Mix is a great way to treat your plants that are indoors!

There are a ton of fun garden projects! Just take a look and become inspired! Miracle Grow is making it easy with The Gro Project. Follow them for inspiring ideas

Fan Friday

I love this fan question!!!!
What do you do when you are not blogging?

Where do I begin? Both Steph and I work full time outside of the home, so my non-blogging job takes up a significant portion of my time each week. I absolutely love my work though, and I would not change it-- even if I won the lottery!

What else? I am also the PTO president of our local school, so I am very active with finding ideas for fundraising, soliciting for donations, and working closely with our school community.

I volunteer a ton of my time to different organizations. As many of you know we sponsor a child in Uganda, but we are also active locally and have worked with Toys for Tots, scholarship initiatives, and other charitable organizations.

And of course, my most important job is being a mom to three amazing kids. All of my kids are fairly active in activities, but we seem to enjoy Tae Kwon Doe the most right now. My daughter is training for her black belt right now, but she also enjoys music and starts in band this coming Fall as well as voice lessons. My middle child also goes to Tae Kwon Doe and may be starting piano in the Fall. My youngest will start preschool in the Fall and will start gymnastics then as well. We will all be going to swimming lessons this summer. My daughter is currently at camp, and all of the kids go to Kidz Camp in the summer for a few days each week so that mom can catch up on work (I mostly work from home in the summer). But we love being together as a family, and we are VERY active. We love going to the park, playing outside, making crafts, and just being together.

As you probably noticed, we also LOVE to travel. It is one of our favorite things to do, and we love traveling as a family. We have been all over the country together, and I love that my kids know about so many different places in the US. We will be traveling to Yellowstone this summer and to D.C. and Arizona in the Fall/Winter.

We also have many pets in our home. We have 2 dogs, a cat, and 2 hermit crabs.

Overall, the value was VERY high for the box and I STRONGLY encourage you to join their mailing list so you can get in on the next box!

You can also sign up to receive their monthly subscription boxes for only $17 a month!

Ecocentric Mom has a monthly box you can subscribe to, and they reported on Facebook that they will be having more mystery boxes soon! Check them out at:

Nuby Monster No Spill Cup Review

The Monster No Spill Cup keeps baby engaged! He is still learning how to use cups, so we let him "play" with them all day long. They hold a little bit of water and he gets to keep his hands on something and learn!

Baby boy loves the bright colors and the FUN that he has when he rolls, drinks or throws this cup! The cup is a sturdy plastic with a no spill unique lid.  He loves how soft and easy it is to drink from--the cup is just perfect for learning.  We trust Nuby's soft spout to our little one's growing and changing mouth.

Even my 4 year old wants to get his hands on this cup! You can grab one for you or a friend at BuyBabyDirect.com, Diapers.com or Amazon.com!

As a Nuby Mom I receive Nuby products to review for free.

Training Day!

Today I head off to a  professional development training session for a certificate I hold. I has me thinking about what other ways I keep up on learning and improving habits.  Here is my list:

YouTube videos hubby taught himself SO many things on YouTube. I love how short and helpful videos usually are on the site. I learned many blog tips on YouTube, how to upload my photos from my phone and even how to make baby purees!

Local Library I've taken some awesome FREE classes on Excel and Word at my library. It's really awesome. I can jump in at any level and learn awesome tricks to make my life easier! I was able to make really inexpensive invitations for my little one's birthday in Word by the tricks I learned!

Home Depot Garden Club Is a great resource for beginning gardeners! The free classes show you tips and tricks for successful gardening. Most of the classes I've taken are over the weekend and I often bring a kiddo to help!

Dierbergs Cooking School is a local grocery store cooking school. The classes are really helpful on techniques and don't cost much. They also have a great class for kiddos. I took an awesome class on how to cook Thanksgiving and I felt more comfortable when all my guests were watching during the holiday!

We learn LOTS of ways--how else do you learn!? We'd love to hear!

Mmmmmm Monday

Avacado Boat from a food truck!

My husband is so excited to get his first LootCrate!

I bought my husband a Loot Crate subscription for Father's Day, and our first box arrived today! For under $20 ($13.37 + $6.00 shipping), I felt this box was a TERRIFIC value! My husband LOVED everything in it!!! We actually subscribed for 3 months, so it was only $12.37 a month plus the $6 shipping (so, $18.37 a month). PLUS if you follow this link: LOOT CRATE and use the code MASHUP, you will save $3!!!

Usually, we give values from Amazon. However, because this box is so special, many of the item are not available on Amazon, so web prices are listed instead. We went with the BEST price we could find.

In this box for June:

  • Dead Pool/ Kool-Aid T-shirt. I do not get it-- AT ALL, but apparently it is VERY funny and my husband loves it, so that is what is important. Retails online for $19.99 (which is more than the box!!)
  • 8 Bit Sunglasses. Very cool and fun. Value: $7.99
  • Bic 2 in 1 stylus/ pen. I actually really like this and it was the item my husband did not even how me, so I am guessing he is hoping I do not take it :) It is a pen and a stylus, which is perfect for my purse (and iPad) Value: $5.99
  • Loot Crate Bot Sticker. Cannot locate a value, but I am giving it 99 cents?
  • Help a Brother Out Sticker. SO cute! It features Mario and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My 6 year old son is obsessed with both and has already claimed the sticker. Value: $2.40

  • 2 Warheads candies. Amazon Value: 16 cents.
  • Stan Lee Comikaze Golden Ticket-- a chance to win free or reduced tickets. We are no where near LA, so will not be using this. I will probably enter just to see what we won :)

Nuby Play Soft teether review

As a Nuby Mom I receive Nuby products to review for free.

We have a teething bub in our house.  He loves this portable elephant teether from Nuby.  The Play Soft teether has great features like soft and hard surfaces for little mouths to utilize.  Plus it has the ability to attach to the car seat or stroller.

Baby did find out QUICKLY that this teether can be tossed across the room and the van (and that it was hilarious).  Other than that, we really like the teether and it's chewable surfaces!

All smiles

Milk Unleashed Review

Summertime for us means more time on the road, in the car, and usually camping or staying in a hotel. We love to travel, but it can be inconvenient. With 3 kids, eating out all the time is not economical or practical. We love to travel with our own food which means cereal, snacks, and juice. One of our biggest frustrations was that the kids would beg for milk in the morning, and traveling with milk is HARD (we rarely travel with a cooler). We LOVED receiving Milk Unleashed for review!

Now, Tetra Pak is making shelf stable milk a reality! Tetra Pak is the world's leading food processing and packaging company with the motto, "Protect what's good." In 2012, they launched their Milk Unleashed campaign to education people about shelf stable milk!

We loved the convenience of being able to throw the milk into a bag and getting on the road. The kids loved the expandable straw and that mom let them have milk in the car (moms that have EVER left a sippy cup with milk in it in the car KNOW why this is a rule!). We simply set it out with their breakfast, and everyone enjoyed their morning milk!

The taste was wonderful! All of the kids loved the taste, and my little guy is the fussiest person I have ever met about milk! He loves to drink milk, and had no problems with the Horizons Organic! In fact, he said it was delicious!

We also found it was convenient to throw it into the freezer and take it with us the next day to an event at the park. It stayed nice and cool and the freezing process did not effect the taste! What a great summer drink!

This month is Dairy Month, and Milk Unleashed is celebrating with a photo contest! Check out all of the fun at:
www.milkunleashed.com

MamaBreak received shelf stable milks to review here on MamaBreak. We did not receive any other type of compensation. As always, our experience and opinions are our own.

Little Tykes Bubble Bellies Review

We love toys that we can use outdoors. We spend so much time indoors, that we love to have FUN when we go outside. We recently received Bubble Buddies from Little Tykes and the kids had a blast.

Our favorite was this Cinderella carriage! The kids had fun filling it up while it exploded with bubbles.

The handle make it easy to handle and convenient to fill. We did not have any problems filling it, and my 10 year old love doing it herself.

My 3 year old loved that it had wheels that could move, so that the bubble blower could be used as a "car" when not blowing bubbles.

Ma Mi Sunny Days Mineral Sunscreen Review and Giveaway

We were thrilled to receive Ma Mi Sunny Days Sunscreen to review on MamaBreak! It is summertime, and for us that means tons and tons of sunscreen. I have very light skin, so I constantly have to lather on the sunscreen!

We love using the Ma Mi because it protects against UVA and UVB rays. I would STRONGLY encourage you to look at your sunscreens because having proper skin care in the sun is so important! Recently, a friend was looking at her face sunscreen and noticed it did not say "broad spectrum." It said it was sunscreen, but did not include protecting from UVA and UVB! Make sure you check the labels, as this was a recent change and it only protected her from UVA rays!

Ma Mi Sunny Days also protects against Infrared and is Anti-MMP (protects against sun induced collagen damage). What we love most is this mineral sunscreen is Paraben-free, Fragrance-free, and PABA-free. This natural sunscreen does NOT contain Benzophenone, so it is safe to use during pregnancy and for breastfeeding moms!

The complete ingredient list:

Active Ingredients
Titanium Dioxide Micronized 10%.

Other Ingredients
Purified Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Green Tea (Camellia Sinensis) Extract, Octyl Stearate, Sunflower (Helianthus Annus) Oil, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-40 Castor Oil, Soybean (Glycine Soja) Oil, B-Carotene, Silica, Polyglyceryl-3 Oleate, Phenoxyethanol, White Birch ( Betula Alba) Oil, Sodium Benzoate, Xanthan Gum, Allantoin, Dimethicone Copolyol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Iron Oxide.

Perfective Ceuticals

We love reviewing anti-aging products. We recently received Perfective Ceuticals for review, and we loved this lotion!

There are a TON of ant-aging products out on the market. As I approach 40, I worry more and more about my aging skin. This product did not disappoint. First, the box really impressed me. I usually do not comment on packaging, but it had the most beautiful design.

The jar itself was also stunning. It is a blue metallic orb that is shiny and reflective. Just sitting on my dresser, it looked incredible.

The smell of the product was pleasant. It was not overpowering at all. What I loved was how thick the lotion was, but it absorbed quickly and made a nice base for my make-up in the morning. I also felt it moisturized enough at night that it could be used as a night lotion. I used it both during the day and at night. It moisturized enough for an entire day, and did not cause irritation to my skin.

The lotion contains some cutting-edge technology in terms of anti-aging lotion. With Epidermal Growth Factor, Matrixyl, Omega 3-6-9, and Ginger Extract, the lotion works to make your face look younger through diminishing the lines and wrinkles. Over the time period I used it, I felt it did make my skin feel softer.

The Active Family Project

"I received $100 from Merck Consumer Care, and any opinions expressed by me are honest and reflect my actual experience. This is a sponsored post for SheSpeaks/Merck Consumer Care"

It is summertime Mamas! Time to get out and about with the kids! I work year-round, so I know how hard it can be to find time to get out with the entire family, but it is so easy to find things to do.
Our Crazy Tent Area
This past weekend, my family participated in a Soapbox Derby! We make it a family even, and everyone attends. We have a tent that we purchased on sale, and we set it up along the side of the road. We bring a cooler filled with snacks and drinks, chairs for everyone, plenty of sunscreen and bug spray,  and enjoy watching the race and being outside together.
Soap Box Derby

Finding activities like these in YOUR town is so easy! Most towns have a web page for the City of Commerce, and that is a GREAT place to start! Carnivals, fairs, and parades are great ways to enjoy the outdoors and to be active as a family. Local parks often hold concerts and activities, so make sure to check the schedules of local parks. And don't forget how fun it can be to be a tourist in your home town! Find out why people visit they town you live in, and visit those same places. If you grew up in the area, bring your kids to the places as a young person!
A Local Kite Festival

Being an active family does not mean you need to spend a lot of money. It just means finding fun activities that everyone can enjoy!

Merck is encouraging all families to be active this summer! Visit their website to get tons of ideas for active family fun!
Website: http://www.activefamilyproject.com/
or follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/activefamilyproject  (I do this to REMIND myself to be active!)
